Paribus was acquired by Capital One (NYSE: COF) in October 2016.
Paribus started with a simple observation: Stores are collecting more and more data with each day to keep on driving up what we pay. Stores employ millions of algorithms to alter the information shoppers see, influence their perceptions, and push consumers to pay more for less. The Paribus team wanted to turn the tables. Paribus wanted to empower consumers with advanced algorithms too. And they wanted to make the shopping experience hassle-free by eliminating the need to price compare. Automating price protection is the solution. Stores like Amazon change up to 80 million prices each day. But with Paribus, every change becomes an opportunity to get money back.
