Press for Vostu

The 2011 Digital 100: The Complete List 1-100

Brazilian social game developer Vostu announced the acquisition of MP Game Studio today and plans to consummate the deal with a new online game due out this month.

Two years after starting, a game manufacturer for social networks, the founders had gone through three different versions of their idea.  In 2007, they had envisioned a Latin American social networking site, then a platform to host other social networks, but by 2009 they had turned to social games. “It was really difficult to monetise down there [in Latin America],” says Joshua Kushner, the company’s 25-year-old chief strategy officer and one of three founders. “So we pivoted to gaming.”

Brazilian social game company Vostu has raised $30 million from Accel Partners and Tiger Global Management.  The investment from the well-known U.S. investors shows that the Brazilian tech market shows a lot of promise. New York-based Vostu is slugging it out with rival Mentez to become the Zynga of social games in Brazil.
