Jumptap, the leader in targeted mobile advertising, announced that it has been awarded its 14th patent issued by the United States Patent Office. The patent, #7,970,389, is titled “Presentation of sponsored content based on mobile transaction event.”
Three local ventures are among the country’s 100 most compelling private mobile companies, according to a Silicon Valley media company. Mobile advertising companies Jumptap of Cambridge and Waltham’s Nexage, along with Boston mobile application manager Apperian, made AlwaysOn’s first “OnMobile 100” list of top emerging mobile firms “transforming big industry.”
April data released today by Jumptap, the leader in targeted mobile advertising, found that despite the continued buzz about apps, U.S. consumers spend more time engaging with mobile web on their phones than apps that are ad-supported. The Jumptap monthly data report, entitled STAT (Simple Targeting & Audience Trends), found that more than 58 percent of mobile internet users are getting content through their browser versus 42 percent via ad-supported apps.
Jumptap, one of the biggest providers of mobile advertising, has secured $25 million in anohter round of investment funding led by Redpoint Ventures. It's yet another signal of the era of mobile, fully underway.
