Press for Jumptap

Jumptap, one of the largest independent mobile ad networks, has named George Bell its new CEO, replacing outgoing CEO Dan Olschwang.  Bell seems to have the mix of media, Internet, and consumer experience that it will take to bring JumpTap to the next level, and either take it public or find a buyer.

Mobile ad network Jumptapswitched out CEOs today, hiring venture capitalist George Bell as its new chief executive.  Based on a few quick conversations with industry sources, it appears that things aren't very rosy at Jumptap, and that Bell is stepping in to make sure General Catalyst's investment in Jumptap doesn't go down the drain.

Jumptap, the leading provider of mobile advertising solutions, today announced that George Bell has been appointed CEO and member of the Board of Directors. Former CEO Dan Olschwang will remain on the Jumptap Board.

Eight months after acquiring the company for around $300 million, Apple announced today that it will be closing the mobile ad network operated by Quattro Wireless in order to focus its efforts on its newly launched iAd product. Meanwhile, competing network Millennial Media is rumored to be in acquisition talks with handset manufacturer RIM, as major companies scramble to snap up emerging players in the bourgeoning mobile advertising space.
