Press for KAYAK

Time Magazine just released their list of the 50 Best iPhone Apps of 2011. While we’re only a month into 2011, a good portion of these could be considered must-have’s. Four Boston companies were lucky enough to make the list. With the Verizon iPhone available for pre-order tomorrow, make sure to download these Boston-based companies’ apps and fill up your new phone with the rest.

Kayak, the popular meta-search website, has created an app that makes it easy to search for hotels, flights and car rentals even while you're away from your desk. Budding road warriors will appreciate the airport information section, price alerts and fee table, while bean counters will appreciate that the app comes in a free, regular version. High flyers wanting to book first- or business-class tickets will need the Pro version, however, priced at $1.99.

The TBWA\Chiat\Day reunion continues at Kayak.com.  Stephanie Retcho, managing director at Omnicom Group’s TBWA\C\D in New York, is joining the online travel site as vp of brand marketing—a new position. Retcho, who starts Jan. 31, will report to chief marketing officer Robert Birge, himself a former managing director at TBWA\C\D New York.

Kayak: (Free) In addition to flight, hotel and car searches this app offers some helpful information including airline numbers, flight status and airport information including restaurants, shops and A.T.M.’s, which you can sort by terminal and category, whether it be coffee or a cocktail lounge.
