Disappointed that the Boxee Box 1.1 software landed without event a mention of the previously teased iPad functionality?  Well so was we at Pocket-lint towers, so we got on the phone to Boxee's VP of marketing, Andrew Kippen, to see what the deal was.

Boxee just announced a new firmware update to its Boxee Box that adds new features to its user interface and video playback, as well as support for more languages. But the update also brings on board some new content, including movie trailers, new apps from Wealth TV and SnagFilms and — due to an improvement in HTML5 video playback on the device — access to HBO content.

Boxee has set their sights across the pond by organizing their very first international event in London this coming June 7th, and will make an announcement on their blog pretty soon as well. Before we proceed further, here is a little background story on Boxee – it is basically a device that hunts down your favorite shows and movies on the Internet, putting them on your telly sans any monthly fees.
