Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) is in talks to acquire ITA Software Inc. of Cambridge, Bloomberg News reported this morning. The aviation industry software maker reportedly is asking $1 billion.
Google Inc. is in talks to acquire ITA Software Inc., a maker of travel programs used by companies including Orbitz Worldwide Inc. and Microsoft Corp., three people familiar with the matter said. ITA Software, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, may seek about $1 billion, said two of the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions haven’t been made public. The talks may not lead to a transaction, said the people.
Today the casual games publisher Big Fish Games announced the release of its latest social game for Facebook, Treasure Quest. In Treasure Quest, users can play any of eight casual games in order to level up and earn virtual currency. Games included in Treasure Quest include Daily Detective, L.O.B.E., Fairway Solitaire, Unwell Mel, Riddle O' Day, Plunder, Thunderbolt, and Snowglobe Slots. Some of these games are very similar to published Big Fish casual games.
Casual game companies, which grew up as operators of portal web sites, are adapting to the new world order of social networking. Big Fish Games is doing that today as it launches Treasure Quest, a casual games portal with eight games on Facebook.
