Ben focuses on growth equity, LBO and special situations private equity investments at General Catalyst. Areas of special interest include: technology, consumer, financial services, communications / media, and business services sectors.
Prior to working in the growth equity group at General Catalyst, Ben was at the investment firm Fortress Investment Group, where he served as a Vice President in the distressed and special situations hedge fund. At Fortress, Ben focused on structuring direct credit-based investments across companies in a variety of sectors. Prior to Fortress, Ben worked for several years in M&A and leveraged finance investment banking at boutique New York investment banks Peter J. Solomon Company and Broadview International. Ben began his career in finance in the Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs and has also held roles in business development and software development at Marvel Entertainment and IBM Corporation.
Ben holds a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from the Wharton School. He has also completed a MSE in Computer Science, as well as dual BSE/BSE degrees in finance and computer science summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. Ben is former President of the Harvard Association for Law and Business (HALB).
