Brian's focus at General Catalyst is on leading investments in growing, later-stage companies which are at a key inflection point and are seeking a value-added partner to help accelerate growth. Areas of special focus include buyouts, leveraged recapitalizations and growth equity investments in industries including business services, technology, energy, value-added manufacturing and IT services.

Brian joined General Catalyst from H.I.G. Capital, a middle-market private equity fund where he worked on a variety of buyout transactions in the business services, IT services, value-added manufacturing and gaming industries. Prior to H.I.G. Capital, Brian was a consultant with Bain & Company in Boston, where he advised middle-market corporate clients on growth strategy, merger integration, cost rationalization. Brian also worked in Bain's private equity group performing competitive, market and profitability analysis on new deals and on portfolio investments.

Brian is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School and served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps for four years before attending business school.
