“I love meeting entrepreneurs at an inflection point in their business, and connecting them with XIRs and other talented individuals in our ecosystem who can help them solve their hardest problems and seize their biggest opportunities.”
I originally joined General Catalyst over a decade ago to identify and invest in great technology companies. Since then, I’ve helped hatch new companies, taken operating and corporate development roles directly in portfolio companies, and worked with some fantastic founders. Most recently, I’ve been collaborating with XIRs and entrepreneurs to build transformational companies by leveraging our unique ecosystem and entrepreneurial culture. Companies I’ve led investments in or been involved with include BBN Technologies (acquired by Raytheon Company), Brighter, CLEAResult (acquired by General Atlantic), Datalogix (acquired by Oracle), Datto, Index, Oceans Healthcare, OGSystems, and Reveal Imaging (acquired by SAIC).
Today, I spend most of my time looking for great entrepreneurs where General Catalyst can be uniquely helpful in building their companies. I am particularly interested in digital health businesses that leverage technology and data-analytics to address the convergence of big data, value-based care, and the “consumerization” of healthcare. My other areas of interest include enterprise software, vertical SaaS, and innovative data-driven businesses.
Before joining General Catalyst, I earned a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and worked at the Yale Investments Office, which manages the university’s endowment and is recognized as a pioneering institutional investor. While there, I also studied piano performance; I still play regularly and perform on occasion (or by special request!). My wife, daughter and I live in the city to have easy access to great food (my other passion), and we love traveling the world, skiing, and scuba diving.
