We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between Commure and HCA Healthcare. After two years of co-developing an ambient AI platform with HCA to transform how patient care is documented and delivered, Commure has planned its deployment of its Scribe solution across all of HCA’s 188 hospitals and 2,400 ambulatory care sites. As the largest health system in the U.S., with over 43 million patient interactions annually, this collaboration with HCA will represent the largest deployment of AI in healthcare to date.
From the beginning, we built Commure on a simple yet powerful idea: partner with doctors and health systems to create software that supports, not disrupts, the complex world of healthcare. We didn’t just build software for the sake of technology; we intentionally worked alongside our provider partners to create solutions that solve real-world problems. This partnership with HCA — a leader in operational excellence — exemplifies that founding vision. Together, we’ve created a platform that we believe will empower healthcare providers to focus on what matters most: patient care.
Providers at HCA will have access to a technology that drastically reduces the time spent on clinical documentation from arduous hours to effortless seconds. Commure’s platform harnesses the power of LLMs to listen in on physician-patient interactions and automatically generate structured notes in real-time. We believe Scribe not only boosts productivity and billing accuracy, but also improves the quality of care. It seamlessly ingests unstructured data from various sources, such as EHRs, PDFs, and handwritten notes, and integrates with more than 30 EHR systems, including Epic and Cerner. By supporting Commure’s end-to-end revenue cycle management (RCM) modules — covering coding, prior authorization, eligibility, submissions, posting, and appeals — Scribe powers over $5B in annual claims, which has the potential to result in 10x ROI, driven by significant time savings and billing precision.
This progress would not have been possible without HCA’s leadership, including CEO, Sam Hazen, and SVP of Care Transformation and Innovation, Dr. Mike Schlosser. In 2021, General Catalyst and HCA announced a partnership to “inject digital innovation into medical care” at scale. That partnership would be the first in our Health Assurance Ecosystem, which now includes 23 health systems across the United States, the UK, and Israel. HCA has been a key partner not only for the broader GC ecosystem but also for Commure. Together, we’ve continuously worked to deploy new solutions, including the acquisition of PatientKeeper and Augmedix into Commure. HCA doesn’t just talk about innovation; they make it happen, demonstrating their steadfast commitment to physician- and patient-centric innovation.
Today’s announcement is more than just a technological milestone — we think it’s a turning point in healthcare, proving that we can achieve remarkable progress through radical collaboration. As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of building world-class solutions in collaboration with the healthcare professionals who use them. This partnership with HCA is the next chapter in that journey — one that will shape the future of healthcare and bring AI-powered innovations to tens of thousands of providers nationwide.
