Imagine this: You’re tasked with planning the Department of Defense’s response to a global threat—an operation that could last months, requiring coordination across multiple countries, thousands of personnel, ships, and aircraft, and secure communication for effective command and control. But here’s the catch: you can only use email, PowerPoint, and occasional in-person planning meetings with rotating participants. This scenario is all too common for warfighters and military planners worldwide and prevents our military from operating at full potential. While we easily access advanced apps and tools in our personal lives, the military has long lacked the software and AI capabilities needed for fast, efficient decision-making. That’s starting to change, thanks to Onebrief.
At General Catalyst, our vision is to modernize our nation’s defense and industrial resilience. Central to this resilience is the military’s ability to make rapid operational decisions in distributed, dynamic environments. This is exactly what Onebrief is delivering to our Defense and Intelligence sectors. We’re proud to lead Onebrief’s $50M Series C round alongside Insight Partners, to help modernize the way military operations, from tactical to strategic, are planned, coordinated, and executed within all military staffs.
We met Onebrief’s CEO, Grant Demaree, over two years ago and were struck by Onebrief’s bottom-up approach to delivering value for the DoD. Moreover, Lt. General (Ret) Scott Howell, USAF, and Matt Byington on our team both have firsthand experience with military planning and understand its critical role in national defense. We’re also thrilled to work with Chris Miller, former Acting Secretary of Defense, and Lt. General (Ret) Lewis Craparotta, USMS, who are joining the Onebrief Board and have collaborated with Lt. General Howell before.
Operationalizing Defense Resilience
Onebrief lives its mission to “plan at the speed of war.” Its platform equips military staffs with the tools to operate faster and more efficiently, turning what used to take months into hours and a few clicks. By enabling real-time input across locations, Onebrief helps Commanders and warfighters break free from outdated methods, driving faster, more effective decision-making. This is why Onebrief has seen an exponential increase in engagement in the last few months, especially within tactical and operational units.
Operating across disparate classified networks, Onebrief has become mission-critical within the three largest Geographic Combatant Commands (GCCs)—the military headquarters that oversee 85% of the Earth’s surface—as well the Joint Staff, and our allies. Military planners are seeking innovative solutions to real operational challenges, and Onebrief delivers. This bottom-up approach has led to Onebrief becoming the platform for three of the DoD’s four most significant military operational plans.
Future-Ready Military Planning
In today’s fast-paced world, modern planning software is essential for military operations that must be executed in near real-time. Our military leaders must maintain decision superiority, reducing risk to force and risk to mission. We’re excited to support Onebrief in making military planning faster and more efficient, providing actionable insights at every level and function. The result is a more agile, responsive military force that can adapt quickly and act with the precision demanded in modern warfare. It’s time to move beyond cluttered inboxes toward a more efficient, resilient, future-ready approach to military planning. It’s time for Onebrief.
