Kate Bender
Investment Team
At General Catalyst, Kate is part of GC’s Creation team, which is focused on incubations as well as transformations and venture buyouts. Kate loves working with founders and management to grow their companies, both through adopting new technology and acquiring new partners. In particular, Kate invests in forward-thinking founders and owners of services companies who see a generational opportunity to transform their industry with frontier automation and intelligence capabilities.
Prior to joining GC, Kate was an investor at private equity firm Altamont Capital Partners, where she invested in several different spaces – from launching a new insurance carrier to buying an ice cream company. Before Altamont, she worked as a consultant at BCG.
Kate graduated from Stanford University with a BA in History and Minor in Economics. She wrote her honors thesis on funding models in public education and earned an MA in Education from Stanford. She also received her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
