I am happiest when I have the opportunity to learn from others. This drive for human connection, and for knowledge not yet published in textbooks, first led me to journalism. In college, when I wasn’t building software, I could be found running around Palo Alto interviewing local government officials for the Stanford Daily. I relished the process of uncovering the truth, whether the answer was at the end of a program run or buried in an interview transcript.
After graduating from Stanford with a Master’s in CS and a Bachelor’s in Econ, I started my career in the Salesforce Associate Product Manager (APM) program. I loved the combination of EQ and IQ that PM demanded — customer empathy was just as important as technical aptitude. My most gratifying moments were when I was able to unblock someone at work, both by shipping features for customers and automating mundane work for my developer team.
APMs tend to be entrepreneurial. As many of my Salesforce APM colleagues left to start their own companies, I became fascinated with the startup ecosystem. I made the jump into venture capital to support founders like them in any way I could. I started my venture career at Menlo Ventures, where I formed lasting relationships with founders building companies in AI, infrastructure, consumer social, electric vehicles, and more. In some cases, I even got to code alongside them, which was a treat. Building on that broad foundation, my work at General Catalyst focuses specifically on data infrastructure that powers AI native apps. It’s an area that I’ve developed so much passion about from firsthand experience building software and working with engineers — I love when I can envision the specific developer I could have unblocked with an infra tool. It is a massive privilege to partner with diverse, ambitious, and brilliant entrepreneurs who I get to learn from every day.
When I’m not working with founders, I can probably be found in one of three places: (1) the soccer field, (2) the ski slopes, or (3) on a plane to a foreign country with far too little luggage.
